There are photos here dating back to the 1970's up to the current time. The collection contains more than just pictures of engines.
If you were sent here by another site or by a search engine you may have to search again by using the search facility as often you will have arrived at the front page not the particular collection.
There is a link on the right hand side to Pete's site which is a great site if you are interested in the railways of Bristol and surrounding areas. There is also a link to Andy Kirkham's site of Bristol photos from around the same time as my "Bristol in the 70's" collection (but much better pictures than mine!).
Other links include "End of the line", Ian Furness's site which is a source of much info on the modern scene.
This site is updated on a fairly regular basis so if you like what you see, please come back and see what's new.
All constructive comments on the photos are gratefully received.
I have been interested in railways since the late 1960's when a friend took me to Sea Mills station in Bristol.
The earliest photos on here date from around that time and were taken with a kodak brownie camera.
This was too late for steam in this country - though I did get to see it in action in West Germany.
My next camera was a 35mm camera given to me for Christmas 1971.
In turn this was replaced by a Pentax ME Super in the early 1980s.
My main interest through the 1980's was steam but if something else caught my eye I would photograph it.
Later on, I lost all but a casual interest in railways for a long period so there are few if any photos on here from the 1990s.
I returned to railway photography fairly recently and upgrade my Kodak digital camera to a Nikon D50 in 2006.
I get a number of requests for copies of my photos on here - esp the older ones and am always happy to oblige if you email me.
