The 4 car units of class 485 (4 Vec) were numbered 041-046 and were composed of a Motor Open Brake Second, 2 Trailer Open Seconds and another Motor Open Brake Second. The 3 car units of class 486 (3 Tis) were numbered 031-035 and were composed of a Motor Open Brake Second, a Trailer Open Second and a Driving Trailer Open Second. I have been advised by Mr P.Baulch of the Avon Valley Railway that his family claim the copyright to this picture - unfortunately he did not provide any more details of the event portrayed.

3.4 Clifton Down Tunnel 1971/2 Wed 12th Oct 2005: Bristol railways in the 1970s
This collection contains photgraphs from the Bristol area taken in the 1970's.

A number of photos were taken with a kodak brownie camera I was given for christmas in 1966. The rest were taken with a 35 mm camera I was given for christmas in 1971.

The relatively small number of loco based photos reflects the fact that we all thought they would go on for ever!

If you were sent here from the link on the Avon Valley, that collection has been moved to a gallery of its own and is now to be found at:
